Phonics
Be able to:
-select the correct prefix for words to complete sentences (ex: Ayrton unzipped his jacket.)
-select the correct suffix for words to complete sentences (ex: The students like sitting in the bouncy chair because it is comfortable.)
-separate words according to their syllables (ex: sun / set)
-decide if a pair of words are antonyms, homonyms, or synonyms (ex: do, dew = homonyms, sick, ill = synonyms, unhappy, glad = antonyms)
-put a list of words in alphabetical (abc) order
Reading
Be able to use:
-read a short story and answer questions about it
-read a chart and answer questions using information from that chart
-match vocabulary words from the short story to their correct meaning
-“Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish"
- "Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type"
