Today in the second grade, we:
  • added to our class story, practiced spotting the missing predicate in a sentence, and continued our unit on handwriting in language and spelling class
  • pair read "All in the Family" and discussed Camila's hobbies in comparison to our own in preparation for tomorrow's sharing time in reading and phonics class
  • worked with today's number (12) and practiced adding three numbers in any order in math class
  • reviewed the months of the Gregorian calendar in social studies class
  • reviewed the steps of the scientific method and worked on our question and hypothesis for our experiment in science class

Mickey, Victoria, and Fiona work on the class story!
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete Math Practice pg. 2.2-2.6 (five pages).
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
  • Practice talking about your hobbies in front of your family. You will have 90 seconds in front of the class tomorrow during our weekly sharing time.  The students created an outline of what they want to present in their language notebooks.

    Remember to answer these questions:

    1. What are your hobbies? (Choose 2-3)
    2. Why do you like your hobbies?
    3. When did you start each hobby?

You can also talk about who you do your hobbies with (alone or with others) and how often you do your hobbies (everyday, once a week, etc.).
Announcements:

  • Two announcements for tomorrow:

Fire Safety Day begins at 9 a.m., and will include a variety of fire safety-related activities to teach the students about the safety measures to take if there was a fire.

The mosquito sprayers are scheduled to come spray tomorrow at 4 p.m., unless it rains. Please pick up your child at 4 p.m. promptly tomorrow so that the fumigators can start protecting our school against dengue fever (and itchy mosquito bites in general!)
  • The students will begin their dance class tomorrow! G2 is combining with G3 this year to create a phenomenal, large cast of young dancers.
