Today in the second grade, we:
  • continued to work with suffixes in reading and phonics class
  • reviewed chapter 7 in preparation for our quiz on Friday in math class
  • practiced our typing skills in computer class
  • observed our avocados and updated our data log, told jokes, and chose a new poem to memorize in independent learning
  • reviewed our weekly target vocabulary and continued to work with quotation marks in language and spelling class
  • listed and compared/contrasted different holidays and customs celebrated in our class in social studies class
  • used our weather chart that we created two weeks ago to convert Celsius into Fahrenheit in science class
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete Math Practice 7.4-7.7.
  • Prepare for the chapter 7 math quiz that will be this Friday, March 20th.
Special Notes:

*The bus will be leaving at 8:45, so please try to make sure your child is at school by 8:30. Thank you!

*I will collect the students' Christian Living exams if you haven't signed and returned them. Thank you for your help!

*I haven't returned the students' quarter three major subject exams yet, as I am trying to meet individually with each student. I have been on lunch duty this week, and we have our field trip tomorrow, so I haven't had much time to meet with each child. I hope to have finished the meetings by the middle of next week, so that you will receive your child's exams before our conferences. I want to ensure that each student learns from their mistakes. Thank you for your patience!

*I have received all of the the students' Science Fair questions. I am excited to watch and help guide the students as they start their experiments. We will start to work on the hypothesis next. Below are the questions:
  • Benson and Andrew: How does a water rocket work?
  • Nathan: Why does the combination of hot water and washing soda make crystals?
  • Beryl: Which is more powerful: gravity or magnetism?
  • Kaitlyn and Eden: How does a battery work?
  • Grace and Wilsoni: Does adding milk to coffee keep the coffee hot?
  • Ayrton and Huan: Why do earthquakes happen?
  • Yan-Xi and Marianne: Why is water needed to form a sand castle?
  • Shannon and Yoko: Which kind of liquid helps green beans grow faster?
  • Reila and Katie: How do you make a cloud in a bottle?
