Today in the second grade, we:
  • wrote a short report on tigers using words with consonant blends and consonant digraphs in reading and phonics class
  • reviewed our weekly target vocabulary and continued our cursive writing unit (J and L) in language and spelling class
  • started learning our new dance for the Chinese festival in dance class
  • reviewed Celsius and Fahrenheit and compared temperatures around the world in science class
  • celebrated Rei's birthday-happy birthday, Rei!
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete Journeys Practice Book pg. 68-69.
  • Complete the Think-Tac-Toe (in your child's language notebook.) The students are directed to choose three activities from the sheet. Please sign each activity they complete. All written work should be shown in your child's language notebook.
    The cartoon that the students were recommended to watch on the TTT is:
    Peep and the Big Wide World: Stormy Weather
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
  • Prepare for next Monday's (January 11th) spelling quiz: beware, damage, bend, flash, pounding, prevent, reach, equal, tunnel, curled, height, toward, brag, direction, healed, tease, squirrel (from Journeys pg. 226-227 and pg. 254-255.)
  • Prepare for Monday's (January 11th) math quiz on chapter 8: solid shapes.
Announcements:
  • I have sent home your child's pocket folder. Please send it back with your child on Monday.
