Tuesday, January 5th, 2016

Today in the second grade, we:
  • echo read and discussed our new story in Journeys, "Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish" in reading and phonics class 
  • completed a problem and solution chart for a mouse in a boat on the ocean and continued our unit on cursive writing (capital G and S) in language and spelling class
  • identified faces, edges and vertices of solid shapes and made plane shapes from the faces of solid shapes in math class
  • started our unit on weather by creating our weather chart and comparing and contrasting rainy, snowy and sunny weather during science class
  • met with our K2 reading buddies during ECA





 
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete the worksheet on the Inuit people using Horizons pg. 164-167 as a reference.
    To answer the bonus question, the students can watch this short video about the Inuit people.
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log. 
  • Complete holiday journal corrections.
Announcements:
  • Library day tomorrow: the children are reminded to bring their library books.
  • The quarter three elective sign up sheet is in your child's assignment book. Please return the sheet by this Thursday, January 7th with your child's top three preferences.
  • The students have brought home their quarter two Christian Living exams. Father Prudencio would like these signed and returned by this Thursday, January 7th.
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed reading your child's holiday journal! They have been returned with corrections and comments. The students were directed to finish their grammar and spelling corrections at home and return their journals. We will do more journal activities during the Chinese New Year break and the Easter break.
