Today in the second grade, we:
Tonight's Homework:
- celebrated our honor students and were updated on our house points during our weekly assembly
- took our weekly spelling quiz, previewed our weekly target vocabulary, and practiced identifying and pronouncing words with r-controlled vowels in reading and phonics class
- took our quiz on chapter 8: solid shapes in math class
- learned about pioneers and explorers, and after comparing and contrasting these two roles, discussed which one we would rather be in social studies class
- made sentences with this week's idiom: "Take a Rain Check", brainstormed ideas for future sharing times, listened to our latest class story, and practiced January's class poem, and January's class song during ECA
Tonight's Homework:
- Complete the non-fiction book report on "Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish" and check the rubric (in your child's language notebook.)
- Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
- The topic for this Friday's weekly sharing time is: Weather. The students have received their outline and are welcome to start working on their presentations. The outline will be due on Wednesday, January 13th.
- I sent home the weekly spelling quiz. Please sign and send it back with your child. Thank you!
