Today in the second grade, we:
  • celebrated our honor students and were updated on our house points during our weekly assembly
  • took our weekly spelling quiz, previewed our weekly target vocabulary, and practiced identifying and pronouncing words with r-controlled vowels  in reading and phonics class
  • took our quiz on chapter 8: solid shapes in math class
  • learned about pioneers and explorers, and after comparing and contrasting these two roles, discussed which one we would rather be in social studies class
  • made sentences with this week's idiom: "Take a Rain Check", brainstormed ideas for future sharing times, listened to our latest class story, and practiced January's class poem, and January's class song during ECA

Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete the non-fiction book report on "Jellies: The Life of Jellyfish" and check the rubric (in your child's language notebook.)
