Welcome back! We have a short, but busy week to cap off the end of February.

Today in the second grade, we:

• took our weekly spelling quiz and took turns sharing information about our Chinese New Year holiday during language and spelling class
• previewed and discussed our new story in Journeys, "How Chipmunk Got His Stripes," in reading and phonics class
• identified, classified, and described plane shapes in math class
• checked out new books to read from the library during independent learning
• continued to learn about plant life in science class
• practiced distinguishing facts from opinions in social studies class

Tonight's homework:

Complete Social Studies Activity Book pg. 40.

Special Notes:

*We will have the Mass of St. Jordan this Thursday at 8:30 a.m. We will have the mass rehearsal tomorrow, also at 8:30 a.m. The second grade is sponsoring the mass this month, thus it is important that everyone is on time. Thank you! 

*Sports Day is this Thursday. It will begin at 10 a.m. after the mass and wrap up before lunchtime. I will distribute the students' shirts after the mass.
