Today in the second grade, we:
  • reviewed our quarter three target vocabulary in reading and phonics class
  • created pictures using plane shapes in math class
  • compared and contrasted the life cycles of apple trees and pine trees in science class
  • created self-portraits in art class
Homework for Chinese New Year (due on Tuesday, February 24th):
  • Complete Math Practice 7.1.
  • Complete Journeys Practice Book pg. 106-109.
  • In your language and spelling notebook, write a story (or two!) using at least 15 of the spelling words from quarter three. The students have a list of the spelling words in their language notebooks. Please write at least 10 sentences per story. These stories can be fact, fiction or a combination of the two!
*Special Notes:
  • I have instructed the students not to bring their big school bags to school tomorrow (unless they really want to) as there will be no academic content taught. They will create CNY-themed art projects in the morning and have their performance in the afternoon. I look forward to seeing many of you at the performance! The students have been working extra hard on their dance.
  • I love the posters that the students created of a plant's life cycle! So many of the students really put their heart into creating an informative, colorful and eye-catching poster. Well done!
