Today in the second grade, we:
  • learned more about cheerfulness during assembly
  • took our weekly spelling quiz and took turns sharing news during language and spelling class
  • started our new unit on geometry and located a variety of 3D shapes around the classroom in math class
  • separated base words from their plural forms in reading and phonics class
  • reviewed for our unit 3 quiz in social studies class 
Tonight's homework:

Complete the green worksheet on decoding (looking for the meaning of words.)

Our next spelling quiz will be on Tuesday, February 24th. The words selected will be all of the words that the students have had so far in quarter three:

The students will not be required to write each word five times for their homework, but rather to write me a short story (10-15 sentences) using at least 15 of the spelling words above.

*Special Notes:
  • There will be a social studies quiz this Wednesday (unit 3.)
  • We have earned 10 "Good Day Monsters," so we will have a party tomorrow! The students are welcome to bring treats and/or games to play with. I will order pizza for lunch. I am proud of how hard the grade two students work everyday to become their best selves.
