Today in the second grade, we:
  • reviewed our weekly target vocabulary and identified the number of syllables and r-controlled vowels in a series of words in reading and phonics class
  • practiced writing strong descriptive topic sentences in language and spelling class
  • previewed chapter 6 in math
  • practiced our poem and song for the language festival during independent study
  • played phonics games during computer class
  • took our quiz on unit 3, lesson 4 in science class
Tonight's homework:
  • Write spelling words five times and choose six words to create sentences with (from Horizons pg. 100-111: geography, American, homebodies, different, fairyland, castle, serene, breath, freedom, bark, ocean, desert.) Prepare for the quiz on Monday.
  • Complete Journeys Practice Book 90-93.
*Special Note:

I have sent home the students' homework that will be due on Tuesday, a green two-sided paper that has a passage on measurement (which they learned about last semester in science class) and some comprehension questions on the back. The students are welcome to complete it this weekend if they have extra time!

Have a beautiful weekend! Stay warm!
