Today in the second grade, we:

• created a readers' theater for "The Ugly Vegetables" in reading and phonics class
• continued learning about how to use place value in math class
• practiced our song ("Love is an Open Door" from the Frozen soundtrack) and our poem ("Sick" by Shel Silverstein) for the language festival during independent learning
• discussed the life cycle of a frog and compared metamorphosis to other life cycles in science class
• viewed some art in the pointillist style and recreated some in the same style in art class

Tonight's homework:

Complete Math Practice 5.2-5.3

I have stapled two things into your child's communication book: the DISK newsletter and the schedule for the parent-teacher conferences as listed below. I have already started meeting with some parents and will meet with other parents next week. I am flexible and happy to meet with you outside of the allotted meeting times, so just let me know whenever you would like to stop by and discuss your child's progress, class activities, etc.
