Today in the second grade, we:
  • identified, pronounced and created plural nouns that end in s and continued our cursive writing unit in language and spelling class
  • worked on word problems involving place value, decided if our answers were reasonable and explained the answers in math class
  • distinguished facts from opinions in an article about the life of Mark Twain in social studies class
  • identified the stages of a caterpillars life cycle and further discussed other occurrences of metamorphosis in nature in science class
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete poster on an animal's life cycle. The poster paper is in your child's assignment book. The students have been instructed to illustrate, write a title for and 1-2 sentences about each stage of a chosen animal's life cycle (Example: A frog should have four periods to its life cycle: 1. Egg 2. Young Tadpole 3. Growing Tadpole 4. Adult Frog.)
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
  • Practice sharing time outline for this Friday's sharing time.
