Thursday, November 12th, 2015

Today in the second grade, we:
  • wrote a short paragraph in pairs using plural nouns ending in s about activities we have had in G2 this year and continued our unit on cursive writing in language and spelling class
  • choral read the story "They Really Are Giants" from Journeys and compared the story to ourselves by discussing how to take care of the vegetables in the story and which vegetables would be the most fun to take care of, another text-"The Ugly Vegetables" and voted on if we would rather take care of "ugly" vegetables or giant ones, and the world-by learning more about where and how some of our favorite vegetables grow in reading and phonics class
  • reviewed the key concepts from chapter 5 in preparation for our quiz next Monday in math class 
  • started reviewing the target vocabulary and key concepts from unit 2 by completing our KWL chart in preparation for our quiz next Wednesday in social studies class
  • presented our life cycle posters and compared and contrasted the different animals' journey from birth to adulthood in science class
  • listened to a story and practiced for the language festival during ECA












Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete Math Practice 5.3-5.6.
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.  
  • Practice sharing time outline for this Friday's sharing time.
Announcements:
  • Tomorrow is the second Friday of the month, so the students are free wear their own clothing (bringing a change of clothes for P.E.)
