Today in the second grade, we:
Tonight's Homework:
- reviewed this week's target vocabulary and worked on a sensory details chart to help us add to our latest class stories in language and spelling class
- visited the library to check out new books
- used strategies to solve money-related word problems in math class
- created a map grid of DISK in social studies class
- identified the energy we see, hear and that which makes things warmer (light, sound, and heat) during science class
- we also found a bit of time to preview the poems that we selected for our final month together; rather than choosing a poem for us to learn as a class, the students each chose a poem that they will practice individually:
- Daniel: The Virus Cure by Bruce Lansky
- Victoria: I Must Remember by Shel Silverstein
- Mickey: Monsters I've Met by Shel Silverstein
- Fiona: No Thank you by Shel Silverstein
- Rei: I'm Making A List by Shel Silverstein
- Kellen: Danny O'Dare by Shel Silverstein
- Sophie: The Acrobats by Shel Silverstein
- Julie: "It's Dark in Here" by Shel Silverstein
Tonight's Homework:
- Log onto your Science Fusion account to watch the 1st video of Unit 10: "What is Energy?" and complete the accompanying worksheet that is in your assignment book. The students have already started this worksheet.
- Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
- The overall grade two IOWA test scores and statistics are in your child's assignment book for your perusal. I have a meeting this afternoon, but am free tomorrow (Thursday, May 5th) and all of next week if you wish to make an appointment to discuss your child's results.
