Welcome back! It sounds like the G2 boys and girls had a great Chinese New Year holiday. Thank you for encouraging your children to complete their holiday journals! I am impressed with the thoroughness of some responses and the creativity of the comic. I look forward to reading them.

Today in the second grade, we:
  • were updated on our house points, celebrated the angel of the week, and listened to Sister Heart present on lent during our weekly assembly
  • previewed our weekly target vocabulary and created contractions by identifying the letters that are left out in reading and phonics class
  • practiced adding one-digit numbers to two-digit numbers with and without regrouping in math class
  • identified ways technology has changed communication in social studies class
  • made sentences with this week's idiom: "Get Over It," brainstormed ideas for next Friday's sharing time, and listened to our latest class story during ECA
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete the reading response on "Fractions as Parts of a Whole" and check the rubric (in your child's assignment book.)
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
  • Study for tomorrow's science quiz on unit 7.
Announcements:
  • The topic for the sharing time on Friday, March 4th is: The 8 Planets. Each student was assigned one planet to research and present on. The students started their outlines today. The outlines will be due Friday, February 26th.
