Today in the second grade, we:
Announcements:
- started off the morning by reviewing our weekly target vocabulary
- listened to and discussed our latest class story
- continued to work with the present perfect tense vs. the past simple tense (have/has run vs. ran, have/has come vs. ran) to write original sentences in language and spelling class
- identified, created, and separated contractions in reading and phonics class
- practiced our map-reading skills by reviewing the 7 continents, 5 oceans and some of the more prominent of the 196 countries on Earth in social studies class
- created a role play of orbiting objects in the night sky (moons, planets, and the sun) in science class
- Complete Journeys Practice Book pg. 84-85.
- Complete the Think-Tac-Toe (in your child's language notebook.) The
students are directed to choose three activities from the sheet. Please
sign each activity they complete. All written work should be shown in
your child's language notebook.

Maya and Miguel's Valentine - Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
- Prepare for next Monday's (February 22nd) spelling quiz: understand, impatient, impossible, believe, problem, gathered, demand, furious, exchange, shake, smooth, hours, alone, real, museum, nursery, whenever, kindergarten (from Journeys pg. 322-372.)
- Prepare for Monday's math quiz on chapter 10.
- I have sent home your child's pocket folder. Please send it back with your child on Monday.
