Today in the second grade, we:
- previewed our weekly target vocabulary and reviewed ordinals and sequence words in order to write directions in the correct order in language and spelling class
- took a quick break at 9:15 in the morning to check out the partial eclipse with cellophane and a special eclipse viewer
- visited the library to look for books that we can use for the research portion of our science fair projects
- began unit 12, where we were introduced to finding the difference by regrouping, estimating and rounding in math class
- compared ancient tools that people used in the past to measure weather with our more modern tools and discussed why calendars were first created in social studies class
- worked on refining our research for our science fair projects in science class
Tonight's Homework:
- Continue to work on your research. I will be checking the progress tomorrow. Most parents requested an extension, so I have made next Wednesday, March 16th the new due date.
- Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
- Start working on exam corrections (due this Friday, March 11th.)
- Tomorrow is our school's individual picture day! The students are kindly reminded to wear their proper school uniform for the pictures.
- I have sent home the quarter three exams for the students to correct and for you to look through. They are due back (corrected and signed) this Friday, March 11th. Thank you!
- The spelling words for next Monday's spelling quiz come from Journeys pg. 382-402.
