Today in the second grade, we:
Announcements:
- started off the morning by taking an IOWA practice test to help us get ready for next week
- we then listened to and discussed our latest class story
- practiced dropping the silent e when adding a suffix in reading and phonics class
- practiced creating strong topic sentences in language and spelling class
- started our unit on matter by creating a chart to give examples of different kinds of matter in science class
- Complete Journeys Practice Book pg. 94-95.
- Complete the Think-Tac-Toe (in your child's language notebook.) The
students are directed to choose three activities from the sheet. Please
sign each activity they complete. All written work should be shown in
your child's language notebook.

- Prepare for next Monday's (March 14th) spelling quiz: culture, community, languages, transportation, subjects, lessons, special, wear, school, world, pledge, climate, resources, uniform, schoolwork, chores, blind, performer (from Journeys pg. 382-402.)
- There will be a special mass next Tuesday, March 15th: the Stations of the Cross. During this mass, we will be walking around the campus as a school to observe different aspects of the Easter holiday. The school gates will be close at 8:45 a.m. that day to ensure the safety of the students during this mass. If you arrive when the gates are closed, you may drop off your child at the gate, and you or the guard can walk them into the school. Thank you!
