Today in the second grade, we:

• were updated on our house points, celebrated our angels of the week and achievements in the DISK community, and listened to grade three present on respect (treating others with care so they feel important) during our weekly assembly
• took our weekly spelling quiz and continued to work with base words and suffixes (-s, -ed, -ing, -er, -est) in reading and phonics class
• reviewed skip counting and used mental math and basic facts to subtract tens in math class
• identified sources that we can use to find out about history (people, places and things or "artifacts") in social studies class
• rehearsed for tomorrow's mass during ECA
• found some time for a cake break!

Tonight's Homework:

• Complete the reading response on "Extending Patterns" and check the rubric (in your child's assignment book.) 
• Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log. 

Announcements:

• The students brought home their spelling tablets. Please sign the tablet and send it back with your child tomorrow.
• Tomorrow will the a special mass, the Stations of the Cross. The students are requested to arrive a bit early so they are ready. The school gates will be closed after 8:30 to maintain the safety of the students during this mass. If you come when the gates are closed, you can park outside the property and walk your child in, or drop your child off and the guard will walk them in. Thank you!
• The students brought home their quarter three health exam. Please check, sign and return it. Thank you!
