Today in the second grade, we:
  • used the 5 W's (who, what, where, when, why) to add details to our writing and continued our unit on cursive in language and spelling class
  • echo read "Westburg by Bus" and compared the story to ourselves and what pet we would bring if we were in Miss Fry's class, another text-"Teacher's Pets"-and voted for which place we would rather visit for a day, and the world-how to take care of real-live pets in reading and phonics class
  • worked with today's number (99) and used cubes to find the median for the data in a tally chart in math class
  • continued to compare and contrast the roles and responsibilities of the city and state government in social studies class
  • recalled basic needs that we learned last quarter in social studied class and discussed why living things must have these needs met in order to survive in science class
  • listened to Sr. Heart present during ECA
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete Math Practice pg. 4.4-4.6.
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
  • Practice talking about your favorite food in front of your family. You will have two minutes in front of the class tomorrow during our weekly sharing time.

*The students prepared an outline of what they want to present. On the back of their outline is a rubric of the points I will be grading their presentation on.

These are questions you can answer:

    1. What is your favorite food?
    2. Is it healthy or unhealthy?
    3. Why do you like it?
    4. Where do you buy it?
    5. Where do you eat it?
    6. What are the ingredients?
    7. How do you make it?
