Happy October! The students have now completed all but one of their exams for quarter one.
The G2 class will join the G1 and G3 classes for a field trip to the Science Museum of Kaohsiung on Thursday, October 22nd. There is a permission slip in your child's assignment. Please complete the slip and return it with 200 NT (for the bus and admission to the museum.) We will be leaving the school at 8:30 and will be back in time for lunch. If you haven't been, the science museum is full of hands-on, age-appropriate, and engaging activities for the students to enjoy.
In the morning, we completed our unit on handwriting, next up-cursive! The students are excited to learn how to write in script. After handwriting, the students reviewed for their science exam, followed by their Christian living and science exams.
In the afternoon, we reviewed for our social studies exam, practiced reading our stories that we picked out for our reading buddies, reviewed our previous class poems and songs, and picked out our new poem and song for the month of October.
October's class song is:
Honesty, Kindness, Sharing, and Respect
The G2 class will perform this song at the weekly assembly on Monday, October 19th, where the theme will be "courtesy."
The song is sung to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star:"

We should always say what's true,
Even when it's hard to do.
Honesty is always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Tell the truth in all you say.
Trust and friends are built this way.
We should always be polite.
Being nicely, such delight.
Being kind is always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Be polite in all you say,
Trust and friends are built this way.
We should always share our toys
With the other girls and boys.
Sharing toys is always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Share your toys with friends each day.
Trust and friends are built this way.
Show respect in all you do.
"Yes ma'am," "Yes sir," thank you too.
Show respect, it's always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Show respect in all you say.
Trust and friends are built this way.
Even when it's hard to do.

October's class poem is:
I’m
Getting Sick of Peanut Butter By Ken Nesbitt
I look inside my lunchbox,
and, oh, what do I see?
A peanut butter sandwich
staring glumly back at me.
I know I had one yesterday,
and, yes, the day before.
In fact, that’s all I’ve
eaten
for at least a month or
more.
I’m sure tomorrow afternoon
the outlook’s just as bleak.
I’ll bet I’m having peanut
butter
every day this week.
I’m getting sick of peanut
butter
sandwiches for lunch.
Why can’t I have baloney
or potato chips to munch?
I wish I had lasagna
or a piece of pumpkin pie,
Another day of peanut butter
might just make me cry.
But still this awful
sandwich
is in every lunch I take.
You see, it is the only
thing
my mom knows how to make.
Tonight's Homework:
- Prepare for tomorrow's exam in social studies.
- Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
