Today in the second grade, we:
  • reviewed proper nouns and created our own holidays (ex: Cake Day-where everyone celebrates by eating cake, Rock Rad Day-where you can rock out to your favorite tunes, and  Lego Day-where Legos rain down from the sky) in language and spelling class
  • reviewed our weekly target vocabulary and continued to work with vowel digraphs in reading and phonics class
  • checked out a math game website and added and subtracted money amounts in math class
  • learned about Dr. Laurie Taylor and discussed the many ways we can use solar energy  in science class
  • reviewed the key concepts and target vocabulary for unit 5 in preparation for next Monday's quiz in social studies class
  • practiced our poems and discussed our latest class story during ECA
Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete Math Practice 15.1-15.6
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
Announcements:
  • Our final mass of the year is tomorrow. The children need to come dressed in their proper school uniform. We will be retaking our class picture after mass. The children also need to pack their P.E.uniform. Tomorrow will be the second Friday of the month, so the children are welcome to pack their own casual clothes to wear to wear after P.E. if they would like to.
  • There will be a social studies quiz on unit 5 next Monday, May 16th.
  • There will be a math quiz on chapter 15 next Wednesday, May 18th.
  • The quarter four exam study guides have been posted on the blog. There is a copy of the study guides in your child's assignment book, as well.
