Today in the second grade, we:

- started off the morning by listening to and discussing our latest class story (What will Tom do with his snow day now that he's stuck with Marcus?) and visiting our school's garden for some weeding, watering, and composting
- we then answered a few questions from our wonder wall (What will happen if a vampire drinks your blood? Who invented the telegraph? How do 3D glasses work? Why doesn't our body need sugar?)
- wrote strong topic sentences and continued working on our class stories in language and spelling class
- reviewed this week's target vocabulary and continued to work with vowel pairs (oa, ie, ae, oe, ay and ea) in reading and phonics class
- completed a chart on sources and effects of light in science class
Tonight's Homework:
- Complete Journeys Practice Book pg. 116-117.
- Complete the Think-Tac-Toe (in your child's language notebook.) The
students are directed to choose three activities from the sheet. Please
sign each activity they complete. All written work should be shown in
your child's language notebook.

- Prepare for next Monday's (May 9th) spelling quiz: cent, sign, dollar, decimal point, dime, nickel, penny, half-dollar, quarter, value, equal, amount, U.S. Mint, total, buy, bought, sell, sold, coins, bills (from Math chapter 14.)
- Prepare for next Monday's (May 9th) math quiz on chapter 14.
- The students brought home their pocket folders. Please send them back next Monday, May 9th.
