Today in the second grade, we:
Tonight's Homework:
- learned how to create similes (ex: I am as hungry as a horse! Her eyes are sparkling like diamonds.) and worked on creating a similes chart in language and spelling class
- reviewed our weekly target vocabulary and made up a story about a day on the beach using vowel pairs in reading and phonics class
- reviewed the key concepts from chapter 14 in preparation for Monday's quiz in math class
- identified sources of heat and the effects of heat on us and the world around us in science class
- described how people took notes in ancient China and Egypt and compared it to how we take notes today in social studies class
- worked on our secret art projects and discussed our latest class story (Tom messed up his poem because he was busy doodling) during ECA
Tonight's Homework:
- Complete Math Practice 14.5-14.6.
- Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
Announcements:
- Tomorrow is P.E. day. The students are encouraged to wear their sports day shirts to P.E.
- There will be a math quiz on chapter 14 next Monday, May 9th.
