Today in the second grade, we:
  • completed the final copies or our advertisements and continued to work with adjectives that describe sound and touch (texture) in language and spelling class
  • read "Talking Tools" from our Journeys books and connected the story to ourselves-by listing the different ways we learn in contrast to how people who are blind or deaf learn, another text ("Helen Keller")-by voting for which tool Helen would find most useful to help her communicate (it was a tie between an ocular implant and a braille note taker), and to the world-by exploring ways that Kaohsiung has helped the blind and deaf communities in reading and phonics class
  • decided when to use addition or subtraction to solve a problem in math class
  • took our unit 9 quiz in science class
  • identified the first 13 colonies and how they were settled in social studies class
  • listened to and discussed our latest class story  (Tom really wants to earn the star pupil badge), practiced April's class poem, and April's class song

Tonight's Homework:
  • Complete Math Practice 13.1-13.6.
  • Read aloud for 15 minutes and have a parent sign your reading log.
Announcements:
  • We have our monthly mass tomorrow. The students need to come dressed in their regular school uniform and pack their P.E. clothes. Thank you!
  • There will be a math quiz next Thursday, April 21st on chapter 13.
  • The students have been enjoying the animated motivational series created by the people at Class Dojo. You can check out their latest video here, where Katie learns that Mojo got out of the "dip" (where people get stuck with their problems) by reflecting on his problem.
